38,000 feet above sea level and no sleep…

Right now I am at seat 23d of Jet Blue Flight from Ponce to Orlando. The flight had a late arrival and it is the dawn of Ash Wednesday. Today is the first day of lent, a special time when we go through 40 days of preparation for Easter.

Jesus prepared by going to the desert without any water or food. He was getting ready for his mission. But … why he did this? Precisely to show us that we can control our humanity and not the opposite, our humanity will control us. We allow that our passion and feelings take over our actions and control us, this is the first weakens that will make us fall into sin.

Little things, like prayer will start easily disappearing gradually from our life; this is because we have no time or there is something more important to do… and I ask to myself… more important than God? And after our prayers are gone the next thing I the Eucharist, but of course our time is so valuable … how we going to waste it listening to the nonsense and scolding of the priest, who Is the Grinch who stole Easter…

My time… 38,000 feet above sea level , on a plane that is shaking like a blender for a few seconds (our pilot is great) and I’m thinking about who is really in control… we are not in control… God Is. Everything belongs to God, we know this… but we don’t recognize it. There is always a fool that say “I didn’t ask to be born” but here you are, and because you didn’t asked for it you have to understand that you have a mission, this is why you are here.

Think, pray, sacrifice, and experience the love of Christ, show the people that we don’t belong to this world, that we are pilgrims and strangers and that our kingdom is in heaven
May this lent be an opportunity for our conversion, a true one
Let’s keep praying for one and other
