What I don’t say from the ambo: What tha’ Heck is goin’ on?

I was reading the news this morning and it is incredible the amount of violent crimes that are reported. What’s going on? People killing each other without remorse, fearless acts of violence are affecting our country. And to this you have to add the suicide rate that is up, I would say that this is clear evidence that we human beings are using the greatest gift from God: our Free will.

The thing is that we are choosing wrong, we are using God’s greatest gift without reading the instructions. Our society is choosing to do wrong and not to choose God, this remind me of the movie Oh, God! With George Burns, people need to realize that we need God in our lives.

We are living a life of convenience; you know what I mean… “I use God when is necessary”. News flash: DOESN’T WORK THAT WAY! God is always there waiting and watching. You will argue where he is when something wrong is happening… Well He is there, but humanity chooses to ignore Him, and once you ignore God… what else He can do, you are exercising your free will.
I firmly believe that we are paying the price of the videogames, and the TV nanny. Our generation has been raising kids the easy way.

We give then an electronic game that will keep them entertained, of course these games are very violent and have killings, and guns, and they can violate every law… so guess what… since you didn’t educate your kid, and the game did, this is what the kid learns as a normal thing.

And what about the TV, let’s Barney, the Teletubies, The Wiggles and Dora to take care of them, while they are watching they are quiet and don’t bother us… Wooo Hooooo! WRONG. Kids needs to have a real role mode, they need they parents. A Colombian comedian, Andrés López, said once that there is a huge difference between our parents and the parents of this generation. He said that our parents really wanted to be parents.

What we can do? Let’s pray together as a family, take control of you r home, start practicing and teaching moral values at home.

Remember that you are responsible for the souls entrusted to you (wife, husband, kids). Let’s bring back God into our houses so they can become homes.

Remember that God is always waiting for you in church and he gets very disappointed when He doesn’t see you on Sundays. C’mon make Him Happy; you will notice the difference in your life.

Please pray for me, I’m doing it for you.

Fr. Héctor
