The other day someone talked to me about a new game called planking. I did not understand the concept of this game until I saw a friend, and a fan of the Bololog, that published some pictures of his son planking. You have no idea how much I laugh with this pictures. As a matter of fact no one in the pictures is in danger.
Let me give you an idea of what is planking according to Wikipedia:
Not to be confused with Plank (exercise). The lying down game (also known as planking,[1] or face downs) is an activity, popular in various parts of the world, consisting of lying face down in an unusual or incongruous location. The hands must touch the sides of the body and having a photograph of the participant taken and posted on the Internet is an integral part of the game.[2] Players compete to find the most unusual and original location in which to play.[2] The location should also be as public as possible, and as many people as possible should be involved. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lying_down_game
There is also a person that has died because they are trying to do plank in dangerous places. Once more our human nature put danger in something that should be fun. Here is the thing, I was sharing with some of our seminarians, Please pray for them, and one of them told me: “Father I don’t get it you are impress with this planking stuff and the Church has been doing this for the longest time” I replied: please enlighten me “and he said haven’t you realized that you planked in the cathedral in front of our bishop on your ordination day?
Thinking about it… this is not true, but it makes sense. On our ordination we need to lay down face down in front of the Bishop and the people of God, in this case is not a game. We are putting our lives to the service of others. We are admitting that we are the lowest, the unworthy and Yes God chose us to serve Him. What an undeserved honor. Why me? We can’t question God, He gave us the gifts, and he is expecting that we put them to good use for His Kingdom.
We need to look a t that moment when we prostrated on the ground, to remind us about humbleness and why we were called.
As Laity we are called to plank, to surrender our live to God, to do His Will, to trust our lives into His hands. We can’t do this alone; we need to put our lives in His hands so we can win the big prize of His game, Eternal Live, Salvation. With Him everything, without Him… nothing
Please keep me in your prayers; I’m keeping you in mine
